Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhaib discussed today in the temporary capital, Aden, with WFP Yemen Country Director Al-Khidir Daloum areas of cooperation, along with the projects and programs implemented by the World Food Programme in Yemen and ways to increase funding for humanitarian and development interventions.
The meeting reviewed humanitarian and development priorities and the importance of directing available support and funding toward high-priority projects, particularly in food security and livelihoods, to assist the most vulnerable groups amid the country’s current economic and humanitarian conditions.
The two sides also discussed opportunities to strengthen their partnership during the coming period and mobilize additional resources and funding for priority projects and programs, enhancing the impact of humanitarian and development interventions and contributing to stability and improved living conditions.
Basuhaib stressed the importance of maintaining and expanding WFP interventions in Yemen and strengthening coordination with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and relevant government agencies to ensure that projects and programs align with national priorities and citizens’ needs.
For his part, Daloum affirmed WFP’s continued support for Yemen, expressing the organization’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination with the government in line with existing priorities and needs and expanding the scope of its interventions and projects within available resources and funding.
