Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani chaired a meeting on Sunday with the leadership of the Finance Ministry and heads of its affiliated revenue authorities to review priorities for the next phase, focusing on measures to strengthen public revenues, reinforce fiscal and economic stability, and advance the government's reform agenda.
Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's firm commitment to implementing its comprehensive institutional reform program, noting that the process had begun with the Finance Ministry because of its pivotal role in managing public resources, ensuring efficient public expenditure, and achieving fiscal sustainability—key objectives that underpin the performance of state institutions and the delivery of public services.
Dr. Zindani said successful fiscal reform is essential to restoring the effectiveness of state institutions and enhancing the government's ability to meet its fundamental obligations, foremost among them ensuring the regular payment of public-sector salaries and improving essential services.
He stressed that the current stage requires intensified efforts to increase revenue collection, expand public resources, address existing shortcomings and imbalances, and improve institutional performance.
He instructed the Finance Ministry's leadership to give priority to completing the financial and administrative reform process by modernizing financial systems and procedures, accelerating digital transformation, improving the efficiency of public spending, and ensuring the optimal use of state resources.
He also emphasized the need to strengthen the role of oversight bodies, uphold the principles of transparency, accountability and integrity, combat corruption in all its forms, and take firm action against any practices that undermine public funds or hinder the reform process.
