WASHINGTON – SABA
Yemen’s Ambassador to the United States Jamila Raja met Friday with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Donald Blome.
She discussed with him ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest developments in Yemen, amid the escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militia and its ongoing attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments on the ground, which demonstrated the cohesion of Yemen’s political leadership and the ability of the armed forces, security agencies, and government institutions to protect Yemen’s sovereignty and confront attacks by the Houthi militia.
Ambassador Raja underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between Yemen and the United States across various fields, in a manner commensurate with the close relations between the two friendly countries and that contributes to supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts to address the challenges threatening the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
For his part, the US diplomat reaffirmed the United States’ support for the Yemeni government and his country’s commitment to continuing cooperation and coordination with it.
