The Head of the Customs Authority Abdulhakim al-Qubati discussed Tuesday via video conference with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin prospects for joint cooperation and ways to strengthen partnership in the field of customs work.
The meeting reviewed opportunities for cooperation, particularly in developing infrastructure and supporting capacity-building programs, in a way that contributes to improving customs procedures, facilitating trade, enhancing staff efficiency, and increasing customs and tax revenues.
Al-Qubati affirmed the Authority’s keenness to expand cooperation with international partners, praising previous U.S. support through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) program. He also expressed his aspiration for the continuation of this support in line with modernization plans.
