The Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi, discussed today, Tuesday, in the temporary capital, Aden, with the Director of the Global Maritime Crime Program Office in Yemen under the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Omar al-Awdat aspects of joint cooperation and coordination about marine environmental protection.
Al-Sharjabi highlighted the importance of supporting projects related to monitoring marine pollution and building an integrated national system for early warning and emergency response in coordination with the Marine Affairs Authority and the Coast Guard.
Al-Awdat underlined the activities of the Global Maritime Crime Program, noting that the program has been operating in Yemen since 2019, providing capacity-building programs through organizing specialized training and supplying technical equipment in close coordination with the beneficiary entities.
