Aviation Authority discusses cooperation, development projects with World Bank, FAO

Captain Saleh bin Nuheid, the head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology discussed Monday with a delegation from the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization enhancing joint cooperation and the development projects planned to be implemented in partnership with the meteorological sector.

During the meeting, which included the Assistant Undersecretary for the Meteorological Sector, Shakeeb al-Tayeb and directors of the sector's departments, they addressed the services provided by the meteorological sector in weather and climate monitoring.

They also reviewed the existing areas of cooperation between the authority and the FAO, particularly regarding food security projects and disaster risk reduction.

Captain bin Nuheid affirmed the authority's full readiness to cooperate and provide all necessary facilitation to ensure the success of joint projects, which contribute to developing the meteorological sector's capabilities and enhancing its role in serving development and addressing climate challenges.

He appreciated the support provided by the World Bank in recent times, which included funding for several weather monitoring stations in various governorates, improving meteorological services and enhancing the ability to monitor and predict climate changes.

For its part, the international delegation praised the technical capabilities and advanced services in the field of meteorology within the authority, emphasizing the importance of continuing the partnership between the authority, the World Bank and the FAO and expanding cooperation to implement projects that support sustainable development and enhance national capacities to address the impacts of climate change.
