The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Human Rights Violations briefed ambassadors and diplomatic representatives accredited to Yemen on its 14th periodic report, recent human rights developments and its monitoring and investigation findings across the country.

Commission Chairman Judge Ahmed al-Muflihi and members briefed 23 ambassadors and diplomatic representatives on field investigations into violations covered by the report and efforts to document violations and strengthen accountability through national mechanisms.

The commission also discussed recent developments in Taiz, Hudaydah, Lahj and Marib, including violations linked to missile strikes and armed attacks that caused civilian casualties, damage to civilian property and displacement of thousands of families.

Al-Muflihi said the commission continues to monitor and investigate alleged violations by all parties under its legal mandate, stressing the importance of protecting victims’ rights, establishing facts and promoting accountability.

The meeting also addressed challenges facing human rights work amid the ongoing conflict, humanitarian repercussions and ways to strengthen civilian protection and accountability.
