Yemen Participates in 34th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

The Republic of Yemen participated in the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna.

The Yemeni delegation was led by Minister of Justice, Judge Badr al-Aaridha.

In his address, Minister al-Aaridha emphasized commitment to enhancing the role of law in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, despite the exceptional circumstances resulting from the Houthi militia's coup.

He highlighted Yemen's efforts to combat organized crime and terrorism, and to develop its legal framework through updating laws and drafting new legislation on cybercrime, human trafficking, and digital transactions, with support from international organizations.

The Minister also discussed the challenges facing Yemen's judiciary and security sectors due to the Houthi militia's actions, and reaffirmed commitment to international cooperation in ensuring criminal justice and promoting the rule of law.
