ALGIERS - SABA
The 38th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Conference, held in Algiers, reaffirmed support for a comprehensive political solution in Yemen based on the Gulf Initiative, the National Dialogue Conference outcomes, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216.
The conference, attended by Yemeni parliamentarians, concluded with a statement welcoming the outcomes of the Arab Summit held in Cairo in March 2025. The statement emphasized the need for parliamentary diplomacy to support the summit's plan for Gaza and a two-state solution.
The conference also agreed to relocate the AIPU headquarters to Damascus, Syria, ensuring the secretariat's efficient and independent operation. The statement condemned external interference in Arab states' internal affairs and expressed solidarity with countries facing crises.
