Tariq Saleh discusses with ministerial committee ways to enhance agriculture, fishing along Western Coast
[12/03/2025 09:47]

TAIZ - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Tariq Saleh discussed Wednesday with a committee from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Production and Marketing Ghazi Lahmar strategies to enhance the agriculture and fishing sectors in the liberated areas along the western coast of the country.

The meeting focused on boosting agricultural activities and supporting fishermen in the western coast, an area where most residents rely on agriculture and fishing as primary sources of livelihood.

Tariq Saleh urged the committee to address the obstacles facing farmers and fishermen, especially in the area of export, emphasizing the need to take practical steps to facilitate the marketing of agricultural products, particularly onions, as well as local and international marketing of fishery resources.

For its part, the committee presented a work plan that includes the development of fishery resources and the establishment of a model complex for fish product trading, along with a center for exporting agricultural products, with onions being a key focus, as the western coast is one of the most important areas for its cultivation.

The ministry's committee expressed its intention to reactivate the regional veterinary quarantine established at a cost of 7 million dollars to support these efforts and ensure the safety of animals imported from the Horn of Africa, contributing to improved health control over livestock and reducing the risks of transmitted diseases.
