TAIZ – SABA
Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan chaired an expanded meeting of the Governorate’s Emergency Committee to discuss the current security, service and humanitarian situation.
The governor stressed the importance of continued field visits, monitoring citizens’ needs, ensuring the availability of food and essential services and coordinating with relevant authorities.
The meeting reviewed food and medicine supplies, the situation of hospitals and health facilities and the humanitarian crisis amid the ongoing Houthi siege and shelling of the city.
It also discussed challenges facing the Cleaning and Improvement Fund, particularly the risks to workers transporting waste to the temporary landfill in Al-Dhabab.
The committee approved resuming waste transportation, noting that Taiz has relied on the temporary landfill for more than 11 years because the Houthis have prevented access to the main landfill in Sharaab Junction.
It said the recent obstruction of waste trucks from reaching the al-Saleh Gardens landfill further demonstrates the continuation of the siege imposed on Taiz.
