Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Abdulrahman al-Mahrami directed the ministry of oil and minerals to double efforts to enhance supply stability of fuel to meet people and local market needs.
During his meeting with Minister of Oil and Minerals Dr. Saeed al-Shammasi, the Executive Director of Oil Company Engineer Tareq al-Walidi and the Executive Director of the Yemeni for Oil Investment Abdullah Omeir on Monday, al-Muharrami stressed necessity of coordinating efforts to ensure continued supply of diesel to power stations.
Al-Muharrami was briefed on a detailed report on the Ministry's operations and facilities, the plans for oil and gas production and export, the ministry's work programs, the efforts exerted by its branches, as well as the oil companies in the governorates to regulate the import and marketing of petroleum derivatives.
He also received a brief explanation of the ministry's plans to enhance investment opportunities in the gas sector.
He emphasized the importance of creating an attractive investment environment and launching strategic projects in this vital sector to achieve self-sufficiency and enhance the national economy in light of the difficult circumstances facing the country.
Member of the Presidential al-Muharrami stressed the need to regulate the importation of petroleum derivatives and fuel allocated to power generation stations, ensuring the availability of diesel and mazut in sufficient quantities to maintain the operation of the stations and preserve the stability of the supply situation in the local market.
The meeting also addressed the efforts of the Ministry of Oil and Minerals in the investment and oil exploration aspects, as well as the importance of the role of security agencies in protecting oil pipelines, especially in Shabwa Governorate.
It was recommended to assign security units from the residents of the governorate to protect the oil pipelines in Shabwa.
Minister Al-Shammasi reviewed a number of activities in the field of oil investments and the ministry's plans to establish oil and gas tanks in the upcoming period in the governorates of Aden, Hadhramout, and Socotra.
In this regard, al-Muharrami expressed satisfaction with the ministry's efforts to maintain oil supplies and prevent bottlenecks in the local market.
He emphasized the need to intensify monitoring operations and enhance coordination with all relevant government agencies and the private sector to achieve further success in the ministry's work during the next phase.
