Security Council denounces Houthi militia's attacks, calls for supporting Yemen's government

Members of the Security Council have strongly condemned Houthi terrorist militia's attacks on trade ships in the Red Sea, including the attack took place on March, 6 on the ship My True Confidence, which killed the crew of two Filipinos and a Vietnamese and injuring four others.

The SC council also denounced the attack took place on February, 18 this year on the ship MV Rubymar, which led to its sinking.

The release for the SC's members demanded stop all Houthi militia's attacks on trade ships sailing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden immediately in accordance with the Resolution 2722, praising efforts of the government of Yemen in protecting the environment of the Red Sea and called all countries and international organizations and agencies to support it.

The release pointed out to the negative impacts of these attacks and the navigational danger over sinking the ship on the ships crossing the area. The SC stressed importance of inclusive implementation of Security Council's Resolution 2216 and the followed resolutions.

The release called for practical cooperation with the government of Yemen to stop Houthi militia's get weapons and related equipment the militia will use for more attacks. They also stressed necessity of implementation of all member countries of their commitments regarding implementing weapons ban.

The Members demanded immediate release of the ship MV Galaxy Leader and its crew, who were held illegally 100 days ago, confirming importance of the Red Sea's maritime track for humanitarian efforts in Yemen and outside Yemen and for local fishing industry, which supports livelihood in Yemen.

The members warned against impacts of Houthi militia's decision issued on March, 4, in which the militia claimed demands for ships to get licenses from the so-called " Maritime Affairs Authority" affiliated with the militia before entering Yemeni waters.
