President al-Alimi receives American Ambassador

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin.

The session aimed to discuss the latest developments about the ongoing American and international efforts to revive the political process and alleviate the Yemeni peoples' suffering amid the continuous intransigence of the Iranian regime backed Houthi militias.

President al-Alim reaffirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and government to the fair and comprehensive peace that is based on the three terms of peace references agreed on nationally, regionally and international.

His Excellency has stated that supporting the government's economic reforms and improving basic services is the best way to boost the peace prospects, mitigate the humanitarian crisis, achieve the Yemeni people's objectives of restoring the State's institutions, security, stability and development.

In this regard the President praised the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, appreciating the two countries' significant humanitarian and developmental interventions.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council called on the international community to undertake its responsibility toward the Houthi militias' grave violations of human rights, including the illegally imposed restriction of the movement of the people, commodities, private-sector businesses most recent of all the illegal and unfair measures against the banks and commerce chambers Houthi militias.

The President also drew attention to the reports about several shipments of the smuggled fuels are likely to arrive in Houthi militias-controlled Hodeidah's seaports and the repercussions of these developments upon the prospects of the urgently needed de-escalation in Yemen.
