The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badhib, called today on the World Bank Group to increase its support to Yemen to confront the problem of food insecurity and to invest in climate-resistant infrastructure and the main productive economic sectors.
This came in his speech during the meeting of Arab governors with the President of the World Bank Group, held on the sidelines of the Bank's annual meetings.
Dr. Waed Badhib touched on the long-term social and economic challenges facing the Middle East and North Africa region, which have been exacerbated by the pandemic, climate change, fragility and conflict in some countries, and what these complex challenges have led to: increase in poverty and unemployment rates, and undermining growth.
