Chairman of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, accompanied by his deputy Dr. Abdullah Abu al-Ghaith, arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, Thursday to participate in the proceedings of the eighth conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments, scheduled to be held next Saturday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States.

SP stresses imperative of implementing Riyadh Agreement

Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament Sultan al-Barakani stressed the imperative of implementing the Riyadh Agreement between the government and the Southern Transitional Council in south Yemen.

In the meeting involving the board of the parliament, the presidential advisors and top government officials, the Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik updated them about the government's efforts to handle the different issues, saying his government had fulfilled all its obligations under the Saudi-sponsored deal as per President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's directives.

He also appreciated the Saudi efforts in sponsoring the agreement saying Yemen pins hopes on the kingdom to help with saving the Yemeni economy and the Riyal currency from collapse.

He said that the government was on the track of fighting corruption and preserving the national currency in Aden before the separatists undermined the work of state institutions. He demanded a return to the right track- the Riyadh Agreement.

He said the government has been keen to keep the efforts unified to counter the original coup by the Houthi militia, emphasizing the importance of return to the Riyadh Agreement which affords a win-win situation for everyone in Yemen.
