State Minister for Women’s Affairs discusses enabling women with UN Envoy Office

Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahd Jaasous discussed Tuesday with the Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Bert Scott ways to strengthen coordination and joint cooperation to support women’s empowerment and enhance their role across various fields.

The meeting addressed the challenges facing women in Yemen, particularly in areas of qualification and political training, expanding opportunities for economic empowerment and strengthening social protection under the current conditions.

Dr. Jaasous affirmed that the ministry is working in line with government priorities to promote national recovery through the implementation of strategies and policies aimed at improving the status of women and expanding their participation in development and decision-making.

She stressed the importance of intensifying cooperation with international partners to support programs and initiatives aimed at empowering women, praising the role of the UN Envoy’s Office in supporting the peace process and enhancing women’s participation in it.

For his part, the Director of the UN Envoy’s Office affirmed the office’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Yemeni government and supporting initiatives aimed at empowering women and ensuring their effective participation across various tracks, including peace and recovery efforts.
