ADEN - SABA
Yemen's parliament will be investigating the recent fall of several cities to rebel militias in the country's north and south.
The Speaker of the Parliament Sultan al-Barakani set up, by decrees, investigation panels into the capture of Socotra archipelago by the Southern Transitional Council militias and the fall of Hajoor, Alwd, Nehm, Aljawf and Radman cities and towns to the Houthi rebel militia in north Yemen.
The decree stressed the imperative of probing into the "the events of the past days: the attack and seizure of government institutions and taking over the authorities of the state" in Socotra which sits at the entrance of the Gulf of Aden.
The government and the political parties had condemned the STC move saying it is meant to destabilize peace and serve the Houthi coup in the north.
The parties said, "We hold the STC and those backing the militia …fully responsible for the recent Socotra rebellion acts, which impediment the Riyadh Agreement."
