Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, Salem Al-Soqori discussed Wednesday with the Country Director of Mercy Corps Riyadh Khan cooperation between the two parties and ways to enhance coordination for implementing developmental projects.
These projects will contribute to supporting the agriculture and fishery sectors, particularly in rural and coastal areas affected by climate change and conflicts.
Minister al-Soqotri emphasized the importance of strengthening value chains in the fisheries sector, especially regarding the accessibility of products to markets and trading processes.
This ensures that products reach consumers in a safe and correct manner, guaranteeing quality and achieving better economic returns for fishermen.
He praised the positive role played by Mercy Corps in supporting development efforts.
For his part, Khan highlighted the organization's commitment to supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, expanding the partnership and working on implementing programs that focus on building the capacities of local communities, improving livelihoods, and enhancing food security in the most vulnerable areas.
