Deputy Governor Barba’a, Petro Masila CEO reviews activities of Agricultural Value Chain Enhancement Project

The Deputy Governor of Hadramout for Valley and Desert Districts Affairs, Jumaan Barba’a met Sunday with the CEO of Petro Masila Company Engineer Mohammed bin Sumait, discussing with him ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the local authority and the company in support of development in concession areas.

The meeting, which included Assistant Deputy Governor Engineer Hisham al-Saidi, addressed the role played by Petro Masila in supporting the national economy, as well as its contributions to implementing service and development projects, particularly in infrastructure and basic services in the Valley and Desert districts, led by electricity.

Deputy Governor Barba’a emphasized the local authority’s commitment to creating a suitable environment for the company’s operations and enhancing partnership with it in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development and improving the level of services provided to citizens.

For his part, the CEO of Petro Masila reviewed the company’s key activities and community programs, praising the level of cooperation with the local authority and affirming the company’s continued support for projects that meet the needs of the local community.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Barba’a also reviewed the activities of the Agricultural Value Chain Enhancement Project for smallholder farmers, funded by the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and implemented by the Response Foundation for Humanitarian Action and Relief.

The Deputy Governor listened to a briefing from the project manager, Engineer Imad Bamoumin, who explained that the project aims to provide 714 households in the targeted districts—out of a total of 2,300 households across three governorates (Hadramout, Marib, and Abyan)—with modern agricultural technologies, irrigation systems, and support for processing and packaging units, with the goal of increasing productivity and achieving sustainable food security.

The Deputy Governor affirmed readiness of the local authority in the Valley and Desert to support those implementing the project, stressing the importance of executing its components according to the prepared technical study and calling for collective efforts to ensure its success.
