RIYADH - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Thursday Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Yemen, Jonathan Picha.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations and prospects for enhancing existing cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields.

The President praised the strong relations with the United States, appreciating its firm position alongside the Yemeni people, its political leadership and its effective contributions to protecting waterways and deterring the terrorist activities of the Houthi militias and their supporters in Yemen and the region.

He expressed his confidence in resuming American support in the humanitarian fields, and continuing to support the comprehensive reform program, which contributes to the stability of the national currency, improving basic services and the state's sustainable fulfillment of its inevitable obligations.

He stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, arms and drug smuggling and supporting the capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard, praising in this context the joint international efforts to intercept more smuggled shipments linked to Iranian networks and their agents in the region.

President al-Alimi confirmed urgent need to deter the Houthi militias' human rights violations, stop campaigns of arrest, torture, child recruitment, and mine planting, and immediately release United Nations employees and all detainees unconditionally.

He renewed the Council's commitment to a comprehensive and just peace approach based on nationally, regionally and internationally agreed upon terms of reference, stressing that achieving stability in Yemen requires restoring state institutions and dismantling the military structure of the militias and their racist ideology.

For his part, the US diplomat renewed Washington's support for the reform process and the government's efforts to improve economic and service conditions, continue the close partnership in combating terrorism and protect the security of international navigation.
