The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Afrah al-Zuoba met today, Sunday, with the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Yemen, Javier Carbajosa.

They discussed aspects of Yemeni-Spanish bilateral relations and cooperation.

Al-Zouba voiced gratitude to the Spanish government for its supportive stance in support of Yemen. She stated that she is looking forward to further promote bilateral relations and cooperation and between the two countries to serve the common interests.

The Foreign Minister briefed the Spanish Ambassador on the developments in Yemen amid the recent Houthi escalation on the western coast and which constitute a threat to the security and safety of navigation in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb and international trade.

The conversations also covered the risks of smuggling and organized crime activities, the links between Houthi terrorist militias and extremist groups, and the impact of that on the security of Yemen, the region and international maritime routes.

The Spanish Ambassador reiterated Madrid's support for the Presidential Leadership Council headed by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi and the Yemeni government as well as for Yemen's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
