The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) today, Saturday, signed a joint cooperation agreement with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to provide food assistance to the most needy families in Yemen at a total cost of US$ 25 million.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the donors' conference to support displaced persons and refugees in the Sahel and Lake Chad region in Jeddah by Dr. Ziad Memish, Senior Advisor at the KSrelief for Medical and Humanitarian Research, and Deputy Executive Director of the WFP and Executive Director of Operations Carl Skau, in the presence of the Advisor at the Royal Court, the General Supervisor of the Center, Dr. Abdullah bin al-Rabiah.
Under the agreement, providing food assistance through the distribution of 13,798 tons of basic foodstuffs, and supporting resilience activities by transferring conditional amounts to participants from the neediest families in establishing assets and rehabilitating other assets to support the food value chain during 6 cycles, including the rehabilitation of agricultural land, the construction of water barriers and the provision of fishermen with the necessary equipment.
As many as 546,364 individuals are expected to benefit directly and 57,313 individuals indirectly in the governorates of Hodeidah, al-Dhalea, Marib, al-Baidha, Hadramawt, al-Mahra and Socotra.
