Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah al-Zouba held talks Thursday with Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdoulkader Omar on strengthening the historic and fraternal relations between the two countries and expanding bilateral cooperation.

The two ministers discussed activating existing consultation mechanisms, including the Joint Ministerial Committee and following up on agreements and understandings signed by Yemen and Djibouti.

They also explored opportunities to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation, particularly in ports, transportation, maritime connectivity, and logistics, given the strategic locations of both countries.

The talks also addressed developments in Yemen and the region, particularly security and navigation in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, and Gulf of Aden.

Al-Zouba stressed the importance of greater coordination and information-sharing to combat arms and drug trafficking, organized crime, and other cross-border threats.

The Djiboutian minister reaffirmed his country’s support for Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, expressing hope for the restoration of peace, security, and stability in Yemen.
