His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) has asserted the commitment of the PLC and the government to work along with the international community to protect the humanitarian actions community and to get the physicians who have been detained in the jails of the Houthi terrorist militias released in recognition of their noble services to improve the Yemeni people's living conditions, health and its available options for survival.
He voiced his statement as he delivered a keynote speech today, Wednesday, via video conference technology at the opening session of the First Scientific Conference on Cardiovascular Diseases, and Kidney Transplantation.
The symposium is organized by the Cardiovascular and Kidney Transplantation Center in partnership with Taiz University, with the participation of more than one thousand and five hundred local and foreign participants.
The President noted it is lucky that this conference is held a few days later of the presidential visit to Taiz governorate that is famous for glorifying science and knowledge, expressing his hope that this symposium is set to " be the beginning of the diagnosis of the illness that our country plagued by and Taiz—in particular—has the largest share in terms of the production of qualified human resources that are in dire need of medical care".
The President said that health and knowledge are the decisive remedy for healing this country and strengthening its immunity in resisting all diseases, including racism, ignorance, superstition and tyranny.
The Chairman of the PLC expressed his optimism that this conference set to be an interesting inception for the month of the Yemeni revolution, the 26th of September Revolution, which aimed to raise the level of the people economically, socially, politically and cultural; as an entry point to bring about the desired change at various levels.
He indicated that the heart of this country is not fully functioning because an important part of it is suffering a chronicle illness: hostility to science and knowledge where an armed terrorist group fights in order to return us to the first century of Hegira calendar.
The President recalled the heavy losses that the Yemeni people suffered in the Houthi militias-controlled regions during the corona pandemic as large number their medical and scientific cadres, work friends, compatriots, women and men died as they were left to confront the Corona pandemic away from the vaccine; because the militias claimed that the pandemic was a foreign conspiracy.
He added" Today, millions of children in the Houthi-militias controlled regions facing death, while rejecting periodic immunization campaigns for the same backward reasons and resorting to superstition spells hostile to the spirit of this era, of which medicine is the greatest achievement".
.The President highly praised the success story made by the Heart Center as an example that should be emulated in various governorates, voicing his hope that this conference will lead to the formulation of a comprehensive health vision to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni, nationalize possible health services instead of treatment abroad.
He said " achieving this goal is undoubtedly requires harnessing the potentials and power of science, research, digital technology, data and communications in order to move our country towards recovery and accelerate the pace in achieving the sustainable development goals"..
The Chairman of the PLC reiterated his own and on behalf of the PLC's members and the government thanks and gratitude to all regional and international organizations, foremost of which are the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the UAE Red Crescent, the World Health Organization, and its various agencies for the remarkable effort in medicating Yemeni citizens during these exceptional circumstances in the history of our country.
In this context, he cited the developmental projects that were recently inaugurated during his visit to Taiz governorate, funded the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the KSrelief Center, including the faculties of medicine, nursing, pharmacy and the Oncology Center as a first stage to later include a teaching hospital and a college of dentistry as the largest medical city in the country to serve citizens from various governorates.
President al-Alimi extoled the role of young doctors who founded the nucleus of the heart center, kidney transplantation and made a miracle in the midst of suffering, conducting hundreds of open-heart operations and more than 70 kidney transplants.
