His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Commander-in-Chief honored the Saudi funded Demining Project in Yemen, known as "MASAM", represented by its General Director Osama al-Qasaibi and the National Demining Program (NDP), represented by its General Director Brigadier General Ameen al-Aqaili with the bravery Medals.
It happened that the Chairman of the PLC issued two decrees on 23 June, 2023 about granting MASAM and NDP the Bravery Medals in recognition of their significant role in demining and getting the Yemeni lands cleared of landmines, unexploded ordnances (UXO) and explosives devices planted by the Iranian regime backed Terrorist Houthi militias.
It is important to note that since it has started its demining mission a mid-2018, MASAM managed to get 55,390, 882 square meters cleared of landmines, explosives devices and UXO.
MSAMA removed 436376 of landmines, explosives devices including 6,494 anti-personnel and 143,951 anti-tanks landmines, 277,92 UXO and 8011 explosives devices.
30 experts and deminers of MASAM were killed and 47 more wounded during their demining work.
The General Director of the NDP Brig. al-Aqail told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) the NDP removed over 800 thousands of Houthis-laid landmines, explosives devices and UXO. Accordingly, up to one million and 250 thousands of landmines, explosives devices and UXO were removed by the NDP and MASAM since 2015.
