Chairman, members of the Presidential Leadership Council receive UN's Special Envoy

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) along with members of the PLC Aidarous al-Zubaidi, Tariq Saleh and Faraj al-Bahssani held discussions today, Wednesday, with the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Yemen Mr. Hans Grundberg over the ongoing regional and international efforts to end the war, make peace.

Mr. Grundberg briefed President al-Alimi and the PLC's members on his recent contacts, consultations and efforts to resume an inclusive Yemeni political process under the UN auspices.

The conversations covered the developments in the Yemeni national scene, good offices by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to establish cease-fire, relieve the Yemeni people's suffering and revive the peace course in line with the nationally, regionally and internationally agreed on terms of peace references.

President al-Alimi stressed that it is very important for the international community to comply with the International Security Council's resolutions about the Yemeni case, especially resolution 2216 which stipulates disarming the militias, restore the state's institutions and exercise its exclusive right to enforce the rule of law, protect public rights and liberties.

The Chairman of the PLC underscored the importance of mounting pressures upon Houthi militias to get them deal earnestly with the ongoing efforts to renew the truce, achieve the desirable peace that all Yemenis are desperately waiting for.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmed BinMubarak was in presence.
