Minister calls on WB to deal directly with legitimate institutions in Yemen

Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation has called on the World Bank to deal directly with the institutions of the legitimate government in the country.
Addressing - by video call - the 2020 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group, Najib Al-Awj stressed the imperative of “strengthening the resilience of the national institutions in Yemen by dealing with Yemen directly through them.”
He called on the WB to ensure a state of balance between their emergency response projects and the longer term development projects.
He called on the WB to invest in supporting the main economic sectors and infrastructure which will promote comprehensive economic growth by the way of creating jobs and involving women alongside men in reconstruction.
He also called on the WN to re-open their office in the temporary capital Aden.
