The Ministry of Human Rights has warned of an impending humanitarian catastrophe in Taiz as Iran-backed Houthi militias tighten their siege, block essential supplies and intensify attacks on civilians.
In a statement Monday, the ministry said Houthi shelling, sniper attacks and attacks on ambulances in Taiz and surrounding areas had killed and injured more than 250 civilians.
It warned that dwindling food, medicine and fuel supplies, along with a worsening drinking water crisis, threatened to disrupt hospital services, including emergency care, surgery, dialysis and neonatal care.
The ministry held the Houthi militias responsible for the humanitarian crisis, calling for the immediate lifting of the siege, the reopening of supply routes and safe, unhindered access to food, water, medicine and fuel.
It urged the United Nations, the international community and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to prevent further deterioration and save lives.
