The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development signed Thursday a Grant Agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) worth $1.2 million to contribute to the rehabilitation and maintenance of homes for displaced persons in Yemen.

A workshop on activating financial resources for improving economic and social development has been held in Sira District here on Thursday.
Participated by 40 participants from general directors of executive offices, directors and heads of financial sections, the workshop aimed at raising competency and financial resources for restoring economic and social development's structure and providing better services to citizens in the District.
The three-day workshop focused on the role of the local authority in making investment budgets, feasibility studies of economic projects and the role of planning and its means in economic planning.
The workshop also discussed outcomes of university education and its reflection on development, the new civil state's contribution in controlling financial resources and financial control for realizing local development.
The participants recommended activating local revenues for implementing a number of service projects in the district and having future vision to local council and executive offices for making real plans for the forthcoming years.
They also recommended amending some laws to fit the real situation and increasing the operational budget of the district by 25 percent.
