ADEN – SABA
Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh officially launched an emergency national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella in Aden, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and Gavi.
The six-day campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 957,196 children aged six months to five years across 100 districts in 11 governorates.
A total of 2,290 vaccination teams, comprising 5,221 health workers and 592 field supervisors, will participate through fixed and mobile teams.
Minister Buhaibeh emphasized that the campaign aims to strengthen community immunity, prevent the spread of measles and rubella, and protect children from potentially life-threatening complications.
He urged parents to ensure their children receive the vaccines.
The Ministry has completed preparations, including training health workers, providing necessary supplies, and conducting community awareness activities.
Representatives of WHO and UNICEF reaffirmed their support for Yemen’s vaccination efforts, highlighting the importance of maintaining high immunization coverage, ensuring vaccine supplies, strengthening cold-chain systems, and raising public awareness to prevent outbreaks.
