President al-Alimi: Houthi Militias Attacks On Civilian Airports Require World's Unity, As It Did Against ISIS, Al-Qaeda
[21/10/2026 04:44]
RIYADH-SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received , today, Wednesday, the credentials of the Ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Pavel Kafka; the Republic of the Philippines Raymond R. Balatbat, the Kingdom of Spain, Javier Carbajosa Sánchez, the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Yakoub An Gambo; the Republic of Korea Jaehoon Chung, the French Republic Véronique Vouland-Aneini, the Kingdom of Denmark Merete Juh, and the Republic of Cuba Miguel Yortobarga .

In separate meetings, the Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Yemen conveyed the greetings of their countries' leaders to the Chairman of the PLC, wishing him good health and happiness, and the Yemeni people security, stability, and peace.

President al-Alimi welcomed the new Ambassadors and asked them to convey his greetings to their countries' leaders, promising the Ambassadors all facilities and support they may need to fulfill their diplomatic duties.

The President conferred with the Ambassadors over prospects for furthering bilateral relations, expanding cooperation and support in political, economic, security, military and humanitarian fields, in a way that contributes to strengthening state institutions, alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, and ensuring security and stability in the region.

The Chairman of the PLC expressed his appreciation for the positions of friendly countries in support of the PLC, the government and the Yemeni people, who are facing organized terrorism carried out by the Houthi militias with the support of the Iranian regime.

The President touched on the latest developments in the Houthi terrorist escalation, including the targeting of Aden International and al-Rayyan civilian airports today, Wednesday, the ongoing attacks on Taiz, the siege of its residents, shelling of its densely populated neighborhoods, attacks on Marib and other governorates, and the resulting civilian casualties, destruction of infrastructure and worsening of the humanitarian disaster.

The Chairman of the PLC emphasized that targeting civilian airports and residential neighborhoods, and depriving people of water, food and medicine, reveals the nature of this terrorist organization, which uses civilians' lives, people's interests and regional security as tools for blackmail.

He stressed that continuing to deal with this inhumane approach outside the requirements of this threat gives it time and the ability to commit more crimes.

The President called on friendly countries to support national and international efforts to designate the Houthi militias as a terrorist organization globally, and to unite efforts to confront their threat.

" The world, which came together earlier against ISIS, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups, is today required to take a unified and firm stance against Houthi terrorism", the president stressed.

The President noted that the Houthi militias have combined the tools of all terrorist organizations and even surpassed them in the scope of their threat, from recruiting children, planting mines in farms, residential areas and roads and booby-trap vehicles, to using missiles and suicide drones against civilians and vital installations, targeting commercial ships and threatening international navigation, and even kidnapping UN staff and humanitarian organization workers.

The Chairman of the PLC emphasized that the international community is no longer facing a lack of evidence, but rather has a responsibility to take a stand that matches the scale of the crimes, moving from condemnation to effective measures to implement the International Security Council decisions, prevent the flow of weapons and technology to militias, cut off their funding sources, and end their ability to threaten Yemen, its neighbors and international peace and security.

He also discussed the "Yemen Dawn" operation led by the government and armed forces, with support from the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, to recapture the remaining Yemeni territories, restore state institutions, and extend its authority across the entire national territory.

The President asserted that the operation will not stop before achieving its goals, and that missile and suicide drone attacks will not deter the Yemeni people and their government from restoring their state's institutions, nor will they give the militias the right to seize the aspirations of Yemenis.

He emphasized that this chaos must end now and that delaying its confrontation only multiplies its humanitarian, security and economic costs.

The Chairman of the PLC also reiterated that the threat to international navigation comes from land, and that protecting the sea requires supporting the Yemeni government to enforce its control over port cities and coasts, and to stop their use as platforms for attacks, arms smuggling and extortion of the international community.

He made it clear that keeping the Hodeida ports and the Yemeni coast under the control of militias prolongs the crisis and keeps trade routes and energy security hostage to the decisions of a terrorist organization and its regional sponsors.

He called on countries participating in naval coalitions to support the government’s efforts to address the source of the threat on the ground.

The President stated that Yemenis know their enemy well and will not forget their friends’ positions during this critical stage. They will honor the loyalty to their children who confronted terrorism and defended their right to life and freedom, as well as to every country that stood by them and helped restore their state, security, and stability.

The Chairman of the PLC expressed his deep appreciation for the steadfast fraternal stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its pivotal role in supporting the Yemeni people and their political leadership, aiding the economy and state institutions, and providing humanitarian response, affirming that these positions will remain firmly in the memory and hearts
