The Republic of Yemen reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia's right to defend its sovereignty, security, and vital infrastructure following the terrorist drone attacks on oil facilities carried out from Iraqi territory by militias aligned with the Iranian regime.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said international law and the UN Charter fully entitle Saudi Arabia to take all necessary steps to safeguard its territory, citizens, and national interests against threats to its security and stability.
The ministry said the Kingdom's response, undertaken in the exercise of its inherent right to self-defense and in coordination with international partners, reflected a responsible commitment to preserving regional and international peace and security.
It added that the attacks, together with similar operations carried out by Iranian-backed groups across the region, demonstrate the continued use of proxy militias by the Iranian regime to undermine state institutions, target civilian facilities, and destabilize regional and international security.
The ministry said Yemen's own experience illustrates the serious consequences of weakening national institutions, stressing that lasting regional stability requires confronting terrorist militias and ending the cross-border threats they pose.
It also renewed Yemen's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and affirmed its support for all measures aimed at protecting the Kingdom's security, sovereignty, and stability.
