MADRID-SABA
Yemen's Ambassador to Spain, Ambassador Awsan Al-Awd, discussed the latest developments in Yemen and Iran's continued interference in the country's internal affairs during talks with Carmen Casal, Director General for the Middle East and North Africa at Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.
In a statement to Saba, Ambassador Al-Awd reviewed recent political and security developments in Yemen, highlighting the government's efforts to promote stability and advance the peace process. He said Iran's continued involvement in Yemen constitutes a violation of the country's sovereignty and poses growing challenges to regional peace and security.
The ambassador warned that Iran's ongoing military and logistical support for the Houthi group continues to undermine peace efforts, prolong the conflict, and threaten international shipping and regional stability.
For her part, Casal reaffirmed Spain's support for Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as its backing for regional and international efforts to achieve a comprehensive and lasting political settlement based on the agreed references and under United Nations auspices.
