Transport Ministry Rejects Unauthorized Iranian Flights to Sana'a Airport
[11/07/2026 03:48]
ADEN – SABA
The Ministry of Transport has denounced attempts to introduce Iranian and other foreign flights to Sana'a International Airport outside the authority of Yemen's internationally recognized government, describing the move as a breach of national sovereignty, domestic aviation laws, and international civil aviation regulations.

In a statement issued in Aden, the ministry emphasized that any international air service to or from Sana'a Airport must be authorized by Yemen's competent authorities and conducted in accordance with the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and applicable national legislation.

The ministry said the government, led by Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad al-Alimi, members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Braik, with the backing of Saudi Arabia, has worked consistently to keep Sana'a Airport operational for all Yemenis while addressing obstacles created by the Houthi terrorist militia that have hindered civil aviation.

It accused the militia of violating citizens' right to travel by repeatedly obstructing the operations of Yemenia Airways, the country's national carrier, despite the airline's continued efforts to maintain essential services under exceptionally difficult conditions. According to the ministry, those actions were intended to disrupt the airline's operations and generate illegitimate gains at the expense of patients, students, elderly people, children, and other travelers.
