MASAM Clears Minefield Near Populated Area in Midi, Hodeidah

MASAM demining project has neutralized a minefield near a populated area in Midi district, Hajjah governorate, preventing an imminent threat to civilians.

The team acted after a local resident, Yahya Juaidi, reported finding both antipersonnel and antitank mines while grazing livestock south of Al-Ju’dah village, according to MASAM Team 38 leader Engineer Saif Al-Mushamari.

Al-Mushamari said the team moved to the site immediately and conducted an initial field inspection, during which it safely dismantled and secured four antipersonnel mines and nine antitank mines in accordance with internationally approved demining safety procedures.

He described the area as high-risk due to the widespread presence of mines and urged residents to avoid contaminated sites or working there until clearance operations are fully completed.
