ADEN – SABA
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor issued Tuesday an urgent humanitarian appeal to international and regional organizations and agencies, associations, institutions, unions, local and foreign civil society organizations and its private-sector partners, calling for an immediate action and intensified efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens and respond to the growing humanitarian needs in Taiz Governorate.
In its appeal, the Ministry highlighted the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation and the worsening shortage of basic necessities among the population, particularly the most vulnerable and needy groups, amid what it described as a siege imposed on the city by the Houthi terrorist militia.
The Ministry called for strengthened humanitarian and relief interventions, including the provision of food, shelter, healthcare, water, and essential supplies.
It also urged the expansion of social protection programs, with particular attention to children, women, older persons, persons with disabilities, and the poorest and most severely affected families.
It stressed the importance of ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most, in accordance with needs assessments and priorities on the ground.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of unifying efforts and enhancing coordination among humanitarian organizations, government agencies, local authorities, and the private sector.
Such coordination, it said, would help ensure complementary interventions, accelerate responses to urgent needs, avoid duplication of assistance, and maximize the effective use of available resources and capacities.
The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the humanitarian efforts undertaken by its partners.
It also voiced hope that all relevant parties would respond positively and seriously to the appeal, identify feasible interventions in line with their respective capacities and mandates, and coordinate with the Ministry and the relevant authorities to ensure the swift implementation of humanitarian responses and achieve the desired impact.
