President al-Alimi receives Deputy Speaker of German Parliament

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, the Deputy Speaker of the German Federal Parliament (Bundestag) Omid Nouripour.

President al-Alimi expressed gratitude to the Federal Republic of Germany for its key role in supporting peace, building institutions and protecting human rights and freedoms.

His Excellency greatly valued the German significant contribution to the humanitarian and developments actions in Yemen.

Al-Alimi briefed Mr. Nouripour on the developments in the Yemeni national arena and the government's ongoing efforts to make the economic, financial and administrative reforms, underling the need for further German and European support in the upcoming stage. he

The Chairman of the PLC also touched upon the misleading narratives promoted by some media platforms about the Yemeni situation. He explained that the Yemeni people are facing an armed group that seized state institutions by force and turned against national consensus, opening the country to a cross-border regional scheme.

He made it crystal clear that the problem with the Houthis is that they have armed political scheme based on monopolizing power, claiming to be a God-given lineage, exclusively has a divine right to rule, they are categorically rejecting the principle of equal citizenship.

The President noted that the governorates under the grip of the militias have been turned into the worst areas in the world to live in, especially for minorities, women, the press and civil work.

Peace in Yemen will not be realized by rewarding the rebels, but by supporting the national state, protecting pluralism, deterring the militias and opening a fair political horizon for all Yemenis, al-Alimi stressed.

The Chairman of the PLC also referred to the ongoing arrangements regarding the southern issue, reiterating that the responsible handling of this fair issue enjoys full support from the state leadership through an inclusive southern dialogue that recognizes political and social diversity, which is currently being prepared under the gracious sponsorship of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
