Korea large companies' exports rise 10 percent

Large companies' exports in South Korea rose approximately 10 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of last year, driven by increased global demand for semiconductors.

Data released by the Korean Ministry of Data and Statistics showed that the export value of the largest 917 companies, out of 70,223 exporting companies in the country, made $128.1 billion by the end of last December, up 10.1 percent from the previous year.

The growth was mainly driven by the semiconductors sector, with its exports rising 9.1 percent year-on-year.

Exports from medium-sized companies remained at $30.9 billion without change, while exports from small-sized companies grew 10.8 percent year-on-year to $30.3 billion.
