Al-Arada Discusses Latest Developments with U.S. Ambassador
[17/12/2025 05:50]

MARIB – SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council General Sultan al-Arada discussed Wednesday, via videoconference, with the Ambassador of the United States to Yemen Steven Fagin latest developments of the political and military situation on the national scene.

During the meeting, Al-Arada pointed out that Yemen is going through an extremely difficult and complex phase amid political, military, economic, and security challenges, which requires regional and international cooperation based on an effective partnership to support sincere efforts to confront the current challenges and to deny opportunities to projects that seek to prolong the conflict and undermine the security and stability of Yemen and the region.

Al-Arada affirmed that international leniency toward these practices has encouraged the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias to continue their reckless actions and undermine all UN efforts, calling on the international community to shoulder its moral and political responsibilities and to provide genuine support to the government so it can restore state institutions and end the suffering of the Yemeni people.

He stressed the necessity of adhering to the three basic references and the Declaration of Transfer of Power, warning of the repercussions of the current circumstances and their negative impact on security, stability and counterterrorism efforts, and of the vacuum they could create—one that Houthi terrorist militias could exploit.

Al-Arada renewed his assertion that rescuing Yemen from its current situation requires a supportive international stance translated into practical steps to address the worsening economic and humanitarian challenges, dry up the militias’ sources of funding and enable state institutions to carry out their duties toward citizens in all governorates, contributing to stability at all levels.

For his part, the U.S. Ambassador affirmed his country’s support for the Yemeni people and Washington’s commitment to strengthening partnership across various fields, reiterating the United States’ support for efforts to achieve stability, security, and development, confront challenges, and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis.
