His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the Republic of France Katherine Corm Kammoun, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom Abda Sharif and the Acting Ambassador of the United States Jonathan Beich to discuss the latest developments in the Yemeni national arena, mainly the developments in the eastern governorates.
H.E. highly appreciated the supportive stances of the three countries in support of the Yemeni people and their contentious support for the PLC and the government as well as the economic reforms program and the State legal status.
The President detailed the Ambassadors on the ongoing efforts to contain the unilateral escalation in the eastern governorates, including the good offices by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reach an agreement of de-escalation in Hadramout governorate.
He confirmed full support for these coordinated efforts with the local authority to work for making arrangements to normalize the situations and protect the sovereign facilities to ensure the provision of the basic services for the fellow citizens.
In this context, the Chairman of the PLC reiterated the categorical rejection of any unilateral measures that may undermine the State Legal Position or cause damage to the public interest or create a parallel reality outside the framework of the national references, first of all is the Declaration of Power Transfer and Riyadh Agreement.
H.E. stressed that it is very important for any forces brought in from outside the eastern governorates to return to their barracks in accordance with the directives of the Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces and the references of the transitional phase, and enabling local authorities to do their duties in maintaining security and stability in accordance with the law.
The President made it clear that the unilateral military movements in the eastern governorates represent a direct challenge to the efforts of de-escalation and a threat to the achievements made in terms of economic reforms, currency stability, regular payment of salaries, and improvement of basic services.
The discussions also addressed the serious human rights violations that accompanied unilateral movements in the al-Wadi and al-Sahra districts of Hadramout governorate.
The President stated that the state authorities are working to document these violations and ensure the protection of civilians, considering them fundamental pillars that cannot be compromised.
The French, British and American diplomats reiterated their full commitment to supporting the PLC, the government and the unity and stability of Yemen, as well as the integrity of its territory.
They also highlighted the importance of the unity of the PLC and the government's fulfillment of its commitments to the regional and international communities to ensure continued support at all levels.
