President al-Alimi Meets with Crisis Management Committee
[18/06/2025 06:06]

ADEN - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi held Wednesday a meeting with the Economic and Humanitarian Crisis Management Committee, attended by Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Brek, who heads the committee.

The meeting included the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Ahmed Ghaleb al-Mabaqi and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shuaib al-Zandani, Transport Minister Dr. Abdul Salam Humaid, Oil and Minerals Minister Dr. Saeed al-Shamasi, Head of the Economic Team Hossam al-Sharjabi, Deputy Minister of Finance Hani Wahab and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemen Airlines Captain Nasser Mahmoud.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in political, economic, service and humanitarian situations, in addition to regional developments in light of the Israeli-Iranian military escalation and its implications for Yemeni and regional security, as well as the living conditions in the country.

The meeting listened to a brief overview from the Prime Minister and committee members regarding the current economic situation, financial and monetary indicators, changes related to the national currency exchange rates, and bottlenecks in the supply of essential goods and services, particularly electricity and domestic gas.

It also addressed the government reform path and the necessary measures to improve the state's access to resources and enhance interventions to mitigate the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the terrorist Houthi militia's attacks, supported by the Iranian regime, on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels.

The meeting reviewed achievement reports from the Crisis Management Committee, the level of implementation of decisions taken by various state authorities and proposed alternatives to strengthen the government's efforts to meet its essential commitments, including the continued payment of employee salaries, the flow of essential goods and imports, and urgent responses to all obligations, current challenges, and future forecasts.

The meeting highly appreciated the honorable brotherly positions of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, alongside the Yemeni people and its political leadership, and their ongoing responses to the challenges and priorities of the Yemeni government at various levels.

The meeting also received an assessment of the situation regarding the developments in the Israeli-Iranian war and their potential implications for regional and international peace and security, as well as the security, economic, and humanitarian situations in our country.

In this context, the meeting warned the terrorist Houthi militia against continuing to involve Yemen and its people in destructive regional conflicts, holding these militias and their supporters fully responsible for the dire consequences of any reckless actions originating from Yemeni territory, which could plunge the country into further crises, including the militarization of waterways and threats to food security, as well as the remaining opportunities for livelihood, exacerbating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.
