Leadership Council Chairman: Yemen will remain a genuine depth and a loyal support for the issues of the nation
[17/05/2025 05:09]
BAGHDAD - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi has reaffirmed Yemen's commitment to Arab unity and the Palestinian cause during his address at the Arab Summit in Baghdad. He emphasized that Yemen will remain a steadfast supporter of Arab national security and a partner in defending the region's interests.

"Yemen will remain, as it has been throughout history, a genuine depth and a loyal support for the issues of its [Arab] nation, and an active partner in safeguarding Arab national security and defending its supreme interests," al-Alimi said.

The President condemned the Iran-backed Houthi militia's actions and expressed determination to end their aggression. "The Yemeni people are determined, more than ever before, to end the suffering and overthrow this scheme and its cross-border agendas," he said.

Al-Alimi called for collective action to address common challenges, including foreign interference and terrorist threats. He also urged the international community to take decisive measures against the Houthi militia, including designating them as a foreign terrorist organization.

"A collective stance in favor of the designation decision would break doubt with certainty regarding our mutual commitment to the charters of the Arab League and the United Nations," al-Alimi said.

The President expressed gratitude to the Saudi-led coalition for their support and pledged to continue working towards peace and stability.

He looked forward to the summit's launch of initiatives to aid the war-afflicted nations including by promoting their chances for economic recovery.
