Signing Memorandum of Cooperation to Support Persons with Disabilities in Yemen

RIYADH - SABA
The Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the Board of Directors of the Association for the Care of Disabled Children signed a memorandum of cooperation Monday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

The agreement was signed by the Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Care of Disabled Children Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and the General Supervisor of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Care of Disabled Children emphasized that the memorandum of cooperation extends the association's efforts to integrate with institutions and relevant entities to serve the disability issue.
The memorandum aims to provide consulting services to the program in the field of establishing medical rehabilitation centers for individuals with various disabilities.
He noted that the association is in a phase of growth and development at unprecedented rates, with its services extending to include many cities and regions in the Kingdom.
For his part, the General Supervisor of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen affirmed that the memorandum will contribute to implementing developmental interventions that support persons with disabilities in Yemen.
He expressed his gratitude to Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz for his commitment and support for this developmental initiative, which is an extension of Saudi developmental and economic support for Yemen.
The joint memorandum of cooperation aims to exchange experiences and knowledge in supporting persons with disabilities, building the capacities of workers in this field in Yemen, enhancing partnerships and cooperation with related international organizations, and conducting interactive and communicative activities that promote community integration with disabled children.
This memorandum extends the efforts of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen in providing developmental projects and initiatives that support persons with disabilities in Yemen, and supports various segments of society, reflecting the comprehensiveness of its sustainable development programs and initiatives.

The program's developmental projects and initiatives include establishing and equipping a rehabilitation center for disabled children in the Aden Governorate to serve 7,840 beneficiaries directly and indirectly.

The project aims to effectively integrate disabled children into society and provide them with therapeutic and rehabilitation services, in addition to enhancing their cognitive, mental, and motor skills.

The initiatives of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen also include sponsoring the celebration of Disability Week with the Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Physically Disabled Individuals in Mahrah Governorate, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The sponsorship of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction in Yemen for the Disability Week celebration aims to provide healthcare efficiently and effectively by supplying tools that meet their needs and contributing to building their capacities through diverse community activities that benefit 413 individuals with disabilities.
