Information Minister: Houthi 'Blockade' Claims Used to Justify Iran Air Bridge
[07/07/2026 03:11]
ADEN-SABA

Minister of Information Moammar al-Eryani said Houthi claims of a "blockade" are intended to justify a direct air bridge with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, asserting that no blockade exists in areas under the militia's control.

In a statement to Saba, al-Eryani said restrictions on Sanaa International Airport and Hodeidah ports were lifted under the April 2022 truce, enabling commercial flights and continued maritime traffic.

He accused the Houthi militia of violating the truce by diverting port and aviation revenues to fund military operations instead of paying public sector salaries, and said the militia's attacks on international shipping since November 2023 led to military responses that halted operations at Sanaa airport.

Al-Eryani said the Houthi militia bears full responsibility for the suspension of flights and the decline in port operations, accusing it of exploiting Yemenis' suffering to justify increased Iranian involvement.
