President Dr. Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Wednesday, with the Prime Minister, Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik, the Governor of the Central Bank, Ahmed Ghaleb, and the Minister of Finance, Salem bin Brik.
The meeting discussed developments in the economic and financial situation, and government measures taken to enhance the course of reforms in various fields.
The meeting also reviewed the position of the national currency, service supplies mainly power supply, and ways to confront the consumption changes of oil derivatives during the summer season.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the need to redouble efforts to ensure the stability of the local currency, basic services and commodities, and to improve the absorptive capacities of the pledges of regional and international donors.
He ordered the development of coordinated plans with various agencies to invest available resources, provide job opportunities and joint revenues, and maximize the benefits of the work of central and local authorities from within for the benefit of citizens and alleviate their suffering.
The president praised the governmental measures coordinated with the concerned authorities in the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance, to preserve the gains achieved during the last period, including the stability of the local currency, and containing the budget deficit at its safe limits in light of the successive international crises that afflicted the economies of many countries around the world.
