The Council of Ministers held today, Tuesday, an extraordinary session via video conference presided over by Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik to discuss the developments about the ongoing regional and international efforts to revive the comprehensive and sustainable peace that is based on the agreed on references of the political settlement.
The Prime Minister provided an inclusive overview about the political, military, security, economic developments and the coordinated regional and international efforts aiming to reach political solution to the Yemeni crisis and the war.
Dr. Ma'een touched upon the proposed suggestions for a road map to revive the peace track which has been sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is an extension of the Saudi Initiative declared in March 2021.
The Cabinet reiterated its support for the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all regional and international good offices aiming to resolve the Yemeni crisis and make a comprehensive and permanent peace based on the agreed on references of the political solution.
The Cabinet congratulated the detainees who were released recently, reiterating the government's commitment to work on releasing the remaining detainees including Maj. General Faisal Rajab and Mohammed Qahtan who are included in the International Security Council resolution.
The Foreign Minister reported to the Cabinet about his discussions with the Saudi team charged with communications with the Yemeni parties headed by Ambassador Mohamed al-Jaber and the outcomes of the team's visit to Sana'a which came as an extension the Saudi Initiative announced in March 2012 and the humanitarian truce on 2 April 2022.
The Council of Ministers confirmed its full support of the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which came as continuation of the Saudi Initiative announced in 2021 which the Yemen government agreed on at that time to end the Yemeni peoples' suffering.
The Cabinet has renewed the government's keenness to put an end of the Yemeni peoples' ordeal, response positively to the brothers' and friends' efforts to establish comprehensive cease-fire, launch political process guided by the UN to end the conflict, establish peace, restore the state's institutions.
