Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik and Ambassadors of the European Union (EU) held discussions on Thursday dealt with the latest developments about the political, military, economic health and humanitarian situations in Yemen.
The virtual discussions which held via video conference also touched upon underway arrangements to get the International Security Council held a session about Safer oil tanker that Houthi rebel militia has continued to deny the UN's team access to unload the crude oil it contains.
The Ambassadors of the EU, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Malta, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Portugal engaged the deliberations.
Dr. Ma'een briefed the EU diplomats on the latest developments about the situations in Yemen including the government's responsible and constructive response to the UN's calls for cease-fire and the UN envoy's proposal for a compressive political settlement, the intensive consultations sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia about the implementation of Riyadh Agreement, the ongoing Houthi militia military escalations and refusal to come to peace and the militia's rejection to allow the UN's team to unload the crude oil of Safer oil tanker.
The EU Ambassadors affirmed their countries' support for the legitimate government's efforts to bring about economic stability, counter coronavirus pandemic. The EU diplomats also reiterated their support for the political process in Yemen and the UN-led peace efforts to reach a political solution and establish permanent peace.
