NY-SABA

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has affirmed the importance of preserving Yemen's unity and sovereignty.

Addressing the UN Security Council's session on Yemen, Kuwait's permanent representative to the UN Mansour Al-Otaibi, expressed his country's concern over the separatists' overthrow of the government in the temporary capital Aden.

As for the political stalemate with Houthi militiamen in the north, he said that "eight months have passed since the Stockholm Agreement entered into effect but stalemate continued."

"The Stockholm Agreement has not been translated to constructive steps that achieve its ends; Taiz city has been subject to four-year-long siege to now and the implementation of the statements of understanding on Taiz have not even begun to now."

He called for implementing the part of the agreement on Taiz and Hodeidan including the exchange of prisoners. He also condemned the continuous Houthi attacks against Saudi civilian and oil facilities saying it is a threat to the security and stability of the region.
