Yemen calls for UN help to ease provision of aid to Hodeida
[28/08/2018 03:17]

ADEN-SABA
Minister of Local Administration, the Head of the Supreme Relief Committee Abdulraqeeb Fath has denounced Houthi rebel militia for banning provision of relief aid and distributing them at al-Duraihimi and Tehaita districts of Hodeida.

Such measures are labeled terrorist as they contradict the International Humanitarian Law, especially those districts are badly needed and very poor and indictors of famine have been surfaced earlier over siege and terrorist measures practiced by Houthi militia against the people of the two districts, Fath told Saba.

He called on the UN Humanitarian Coordinator to quickly intervene and take necessary measures for allowing international organizations to enter to these areas to distribute humanitarian aid to the needy and affected people.

He also demanded the International Organizations to issue releases and reports on Houthi militia's practices in these areas, shouldering them full responsibility on silence over inhuman acts practiced by Houthis against humanitarian activities.

He directed another call to the UN Secretary General Humanitarian Affairs Assistant to shoulder Houthi militia the full responsibility on hindering activities of the international relief organizations and exert pressure on Houthis for allowing humanitarian activities in these areas.

He considered silence on these practices is unacceptable and encourages the militia on proceeding with practices of deteriorating humanitarian situations in Yemen.
